REWIMET is a network of companies, scientific institutions and local authorities. The members employ approx. 18,000 people and have an annual turnover of approx. EUR 4.8 billion.

REWIMET stands for the recycling of economically strategic metals and other important raw materials, for innovation and exchange in the metal recycling industry among businesses, science and local authorities. If we want to implement a circular economy, we need a lot of innovations to break away from the linear economy. This idea is embodied in REWIMET.

We are the recycling region here, especially for the metal sector, and only the cooperation of this entire region leads to what we have already seen in Silicon Valley: a genuine, strong cluster where people can support and encourage each other.

Targets

REWIMET is a network of companies, scientific institutions and local authorities. The main purpose is to ensure the availability of raw materials through recycling. The focus is on the promotion of science and research through the development of recycling strategies and processes through to their industrial implementation.

Metal recycling

The increasing world population leads to a rising demand for raw materials. If everyone on our planet wants to reach the standard of living of the highly developed industrial nations, the demand for raw materials will increase by a multiple compared to today's level.

Climate protection

Metal recycling saves both energy and CO₂ emissions compared to metal extraction from primary sources. All recycling plants of REWIMET members together save around 5,200,000 t of CO₂ emissions per year. Metal recycling is active climate protection!

Members

REWIMET is a network of companies, scientific institutions and local authorities. The members process 5 million tons of waste annually, employ approx. 44,000 people and have an annual turnover of approx. EUR 16 billion.

Team

The board is committed to realize the association's goals on an economic, scientific and political level. The cluster manager heads the office and is the first point of contact for interested parties.
